Formality

All tourists must have a valid passport and entrance visa for Madagascar.
Visa entrance can be obtained either at any Foreign Malagasy Embassy or at Ivato Airport in Antananarivo upon arrival.

Health

Anti-malaria tablet must be taken before, during and after the trip.
Medicines for emergency are highly advised. Medical centres are mainly available in big cities.

Language:

Malagasy is the official language. French and English are often used in business.

Money

Ariary is the local money.

Change:

Travellers cheques with presentation of bank attestation are largely accepted.
Credit cards like Visa, American Express, Master Card, are also largely accepted.
Malagasy Ariary is not possible to be changed back, so we advise you to cash a few amount at each time.

Climate

Climate is characterised by two different seasons:

• December to March: Rainy season, sometimes presence of cyclones.
• April to November: Dry season, convenient period to visit Madagascar.

Telecommunication:

Only in big cities and some towns, communication with countries outside Madagascar is possible
(phone, fax, mail…)

Transport:

Plane is the most suitable means of transport for coming to Madagascar.
Travelling across the island is possible by:

• Air Madagascar or charter a private aircraft.
• Car, train, motor, bicycle and why not on foot.
• Boat, speed boat, barge and pirogue.
